Grand Opening of Northwest Tri & Bike this weekend
Don’t miss the grand opening of Kent’s newest sports shop, Northwest Tri & Bike this Saturday and Sunday. Take part in the Great American Backyard Campout
“Trade screen time for green time” is the driving idea behind the National Wildlife Federation’s 7th annual Great American Backyard Campout June 25. With American children spending just one minute playing outside for every hour spent in front of electronic media per day, the Campout is designed to help kids appreciate the outdoors for a night. New exhibit showcases 100 years of bicycles
The Lynden Pioneer Museum in Lynden, Wash. (near Bellingham) opened a new exhibit this month called “Flying Spokes: 100 Years of the Bicycle.” Featuring more than 60 bicycles from all over the world, dating from 1911 to present, the exhibit celebrates the bicycles as art, leisure, and transport, while highlighting its historical role across cultures. The exhibit will run through Nov. 30. Special events during the exhibit’s run include a performance of Mark Twain’s “Taming the Bicycle” at 1:30 p.m. on June 23, and a talk by museum director Troy Luginbill at 1:30 p.m. on July 21.
