Banff Mountain Film Fest returns!
The Banff Mountain Film Festival, an international film competition featuring the world’s best footage on mountain subjects, will return to the Northwest this month. And what could be a better place to view the mountain film than in Leavenworth, the Cascade Mountain’s Bavarian Village?
Leavenworth’s films, scheduled to be shown Nov. 22 and hosted by the Leavenworth Winter Sports Club, will represent popular local recreation that may include: skiing, snowboarding, climbing, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking and paragliding. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a silent auction, drinks and snacks before the films start at 7:30 p.m. at the Leavenworth Festhalle. Tickets can be purchased online at www.skileavenworth.com or in downtown Leavenworth at Der Sportsmann: Adults $13, Kids $8. Last year’s event sold out quickly. The proceeds from the evening will benefit LWSC’s winter youth programs.

The Columbia Gorge Turns 25!
Twenty-five years ago the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area was created and the Friends of the Columbia Gorge is celebrating with a party on Friday, Nov. 18 in Portland and Hood River with live music, food, drink, film and presentation.
The event is free with a suggested donation and starts at 5:30 p.m.

“Pray for Snow” party Nov. 16
Join the fun at the 11th annual “Pray for Snow” fundraiser at the Red Door in Seattle on Nov. 16, an event that drew a packed house last year. Food, drink, and frolic are on the menu for the evening, as are raffles for cool prizes such as skis, boots, and other ski gear. All the proceeds go to Outdoors for All, an organization that enriches the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation.
