Those who love cycling with a side order of mud and obstacles are in luck: cyclocross season in the Northwest is here. Who doesn’t love the challenge of a short loop with steep inclines and barriers that require a dismount and carry? Best of all, cyclocross is one of the cycling variations that might be almost as much fun to watch as it is to participate. Almost.

Over 1000 racers started both days. Saturday is for serious racing, Sunday is for the cure your hangover fun kind of day. The theme is portrayed at the Warehouse party Saturday night.

Oatmeal is good for you.

Ninkasi Brewing Company has finally released its Oatis Oatmeal Stout in 12 ounce bottle six packs on Sept. 1, in addition to the regular draft and twenty-two ounce bomber size. Ninkasi Brewing, out of Eugene, Ore., is a true Northwest original.

As an added treat this fall, Northwest travelers can quaff complimentary Oatis Oatmeal Stout on regional Alaska/Horizon flights during October. This might be a reason to fly somewhere. It’s a great way to get a hearty serving of oatmeal.
