Yakima Valley Tourism Office Hosts Giveaway to Ski a Day with World Class Skier, Andy Mahre, on His Home Mountain, White Pass Ski Area
The winner of the giveaway (and 3 friends) will receive a private day of skiing with world class skier, Andy Mahre, on his home mountain, White Pass Ski Area in February, 2014.
“White Pass is home to some of the best skiing in the region and home mountain to the Mahre family. Along with Andy are his many relatives including his Olympic Silver Medalist father, Steve Mahre and Olympic Gold Medalist uncle, Phil Mahre.” says John Cooper, President and CEO of the Yakima Valley tourism office. “You have families and top notch professionals that ski there repeatedly during the season.”
Lift tickets, ski equipment rental, food and beverage, a gas card, Downtown Yakima lodging and VIP Wine Tasting of Yakima Valley award-winning wines will all be included as part of the private ski day giveaway with Andy.
“Andy is a pretty mellow character. He first really started to turn heads a few years ago with a super strong showing at K2′s Back Nine Contest held up in Whistler’s BC. Andy skied most of the “holes” sans poles and walked away the winner of two holes and secured a 3rd place finish along with 18 G’s in prize money. From there it wasn’t long before people realized what could be done both forwards and backwards while skiing powder and Andy’s segments in PBP’s War, Ski Porn and Eric Iberg’s Idea were proof. Since then Andy has been working closely with the other athletes from Idea to bring you Nimbus Independent which is definitely a breath of fresh air as far as ski footage goes. The group is super tight and out to show us that skiing can be such a simple pleasure and that it can be done just about anywhere.”
