Nutty about Cyclepedia

Hometown bicycle helmet manufacture, Nutcase Helmets, recently donated 475 of their colorful and original helmets to display at the Cyclepedia Exhibit at the Portland Art Museum (PAM).

Nutcase, based in Portland, is the original innovator of lifestyle biking helmets. On display are some of Nutcase’s most well-known and iconic helmets like Dazed and Amused, Daisy Stripe, Got Luck? and Glo-Brain.

The exhibit will include 40 bicycles from the collection of Vienna-based designer and bike aficionado Michael Embacher. The exhibit will also include public workshops, tours and lectures showcasing Portland’s internationally recognized community of bicycle designers and builders. Cyclepedia will include racing, mountain, single speed, touring, tandem, urban, folding, cargo, curiosities, and children’s bicycles.

Dubbed “the vanguard of American cycling” by Bicycling magazine, the city of Portland was chosen as the most appropriate, and only, American venue to host this exhibition. No other city in America has more cyclists per capita. The exhibit will be open June 8 to Sept. 8, Tuesdays through Sundays.
