Slogging through winter weather runs can be a challenge. Especially when you feel like you are the only one braving the elements. Why not brighten those dreary winter runs with a podcast?

“There’s something satisfyingly productive about finishing your long run and having learned dozens of brand new fitness, nutrition or training tips you would have never discovered had you simply been piping rock music or techno through your earbuds,” says Ben Greenfield, the Washington resident behind www.BenGreenfieldFitness.com.

Podcasts are free, easy to download and the choices are endless.

Here are seven great podcasts to get you started.

Endurance Planet

Triathlete Tawnee Prazak hosts the show that focuses on endurance running, cycling, swimming and adventure racing. She has experience as a triathlon and endurance sports coach, strength and conditioning coach, personal trainer and exercise physiologist.

This knowledge base shines through as she holds weekly shows with Spokane-based coach Ben Greenfield on sports nutrition, and ultrarunner Tim Wagoneer on ultrarunning and coaching and a variety of other endurance-focused topics.

Tune in if you want to hone your skills as a triathlete or ultrarunner, or get your nutritional needs on track. www.enduranceplanet.com

Marathon Training Academy

Once you enter the world of running podcasts you will find it hard to leave. There is no need to worry about a lack of training advice, running motivation or all around running info. You may find yourself going on a run just to listen to the newest episode.

Clint is currently out for a run or training for his next ultramarathon while catching up on podcasts.
