Marmot Mountain Works in Bellevue, Wash., is going out of business. Its last day of operation will be March, 2, 2014.

“We’re sorry to have to close the doors,” says a notice posted at Marmot Mountain Works, “but outdoor equipment consumer buying trends have changed, which combined with other economic circumstances and weather beyond our control, give us no choice.”

To help clear out stock, longtime owner Lock Miller is offering a “gambler closing sale.” All prices in the store will be reduced by an additional 10-percent every 8-10 days until closing (20-percent off through Jan. 26, 30-percent off Jan. 27-Feb. 5, and so on) with even lower prices on used rental equipment. However, if you wait for the lowest prices, there is no guarantee that your favorite type of cross-country equipment, outdoor clothing, tent, pack or climbing gear will be there when you arrive – thus the gamble.

Marmot Mountain Works has been a valued provider of mountaineering and snow-sport goods and services since it opened in 1976. Over the past two decades, Marmot Mountain Works has carried a range of trusted brands like Arc’teryx, Black Diamond, Dynafit and others.
