Get in a good paddle this weekend

Summer events are in full swing in the Northwest this weekend. Whether you want to get in a good paddling at the Paddle Bainbridge, ride your brains out at the STP or opt for an indoor spin for a good cause, just say yes to summer!

Paddle Bainbridge

Get in a good paddling at the annual two-day Paddle Bainbridge this weekend. This fully supported paddle around the island will be the highlight of your paddling year. Choose from one or two days (13 miles each day) and bring or rent a human-powered water craft from sponsor Olympic Outdoor Center. Event pricing starts at $89 and includes lunch, dinner, camping, entertainment and showers. And if you can’t get enough, put the Paddle Kitsap event on your calendar for Aug. 4-5. This two-day, 35-mile paddle starts at Port Gamble and ends in Poulsbo. www.olympicoutdoorcenter.com/PaddleBainbridge.php/

The back roads from Seattle to Portland will be filled with 10,000 cyclists Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15, during the annual Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic staged by the Cascade Bicycle Club. Be sure to stop by the finish line in Portland and say hello to Outdoors NW publisher Carolyn Price – and sign up to win a very cool Primal Wear jersey!

Women Riders Unite!

Cycle University is teaming up with Cycle the WAVE to put on a great cycling class for women riders, tonight, July 12, 2012,  from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. It’s called “Road 101: Group Riding and Pacelining.” Best of all, it’s only $35 and a portion of the fee goes to Cycle the WAVE (Women Against Violence Everywhere). Sign up now – it would be great training for anyone interested in riding Cycle the WAVE in Issaquah, Wash. on Oct. 16. There will be 12-, 25-, 42- and 62-mile routes to choose from. A great ride for a great cause!
