Kudos to Outdoor Research and employee Cherie Appleby-Lannan who decided to step up to help Hurricane Sandy victims. She was back east when the storm hit, and when she returned to work she organized a relief effort for various agencies. Through her efforts, more than $45,000 worth of new, warm outdoor clothing was shipped to the Breezy Point Fire Department to be distributed to victims in the area.
In addition, Appleby-Lannan organized a donation of $15,000 of OR goods to AmeriCares, a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization working with victims in the Staten Island area. Finally, as part of their direct giving program, that requires purchasers to donate $2 per order to a choice outdoor advocacy programs, OR named the American Red Cross’s Hurricane Sandy Relief effort as one of its beneficiaries, resulting in a $4,648 cash donation.
We’re proud to have a great company like Outdoor Research (and great people like Cherie Appleby-Lannan) here in the Northwest.
