Puget Sound Bike Share Announces Launch

Here’s another reason Seattle’s cycle profile is on the rise! Already known as being a leader in environmental responsibility, the city will soon have another reason to brag.
Puget Sound Bike Share, a non-profit organization made up of public and private organizations and private citizens, has announced plans for a major bike share program beginning in 2014. It will launch with 500 bikes and 50 stations in the U-District, South Lake Union, Downtown and Capitol Hill neighborhoods, with more expansion coming over the next few years when they hope to have 2,200 bikes and 220 stations.
On Tuesday, Puget Sound Bike Share announced Portland-based Alta Bike Share has been chosen to build the system. Soon you’ll be able to swipe a credit card, pick up a bike (and helmet from a vending machine) and ride to your destination. Drop off the bike at another station and you’re on your way. Easy as falling off a…never mind.
