Sno-Park Permits Required

Washington and Oregon have ended the Sno-Park permit reciprocity program that has been in place for 35 years due to an imbalance in expenses.

Washington’s Sno-Park program is larger and more expensive to run than Oregon’s Sno-Park program. The difference has been reflected in the costs of permits in
both states.

Snow enthusiasts who are heading to winter recreation areas in both states will need to purchase two separate permits.

Washington Sno-Park permits can be purchased online until April 30 or at participating state parks or retailers. A one-day permit is $20. A seasonal pass is $40. For access to special groomed trails, the cost is $40. Retailers charge an additional $2 fee. For more info, go to www.parks.wa.gov/winter.

Oregon Sno-Park permits can be purchased at Department of Motor Vehicles offices or resorts and retail outlets. One-day permits are $4. Snow-campers can get a three-day permit for $9. An annual pass costs $25. For more info, go to www.oregon.gov/odot/dmv
