Safety in Deep Snow

It was a slow start to winter for many Washington snow resorts, but you would never know it if you’ve been up to play in the last week.

Washington ski areas like Mt. Baker and Stevens Pass have been seeing some incredible snowfall. Monday alone brought more than 20 inches of fresh snow to both resorts, and the pow keeps on falling.

This means great skiing and riding at all resorts throughout the Cascades, but it also means a higher risk of tree-well accidents — not just in side-country and backcountry locations, but on some of your favorite groomed runs as well.

Make sure to practice deep-snow safety; and check avalanche, weather and road reports before you head out to enjoy your snow sports.
