We have a winner!

Outdoors NW asked its readers to weigh in on the best cover of its last 25 years and the winner is … 1988 old school Cops on Mountain Bikes, photographed by publisher Carolyn Price in the magazine’s first year.

The Bike Cops cover captured the very first mountain bike cop patrol in the country — right here in Seattle.  This picture was taken at Pike Place Market with Seattle’s unmistakable skyline in the background. Today, helmeted bike cops are standard issue in Seattle and other cities around the world.

Runner-up covers were Jingle Bell Rock from November/December 2009 and Eco Travel from July/August 2010 photographed by Stephen Matera.

Terry Priest of Arlington, Wash. was chosen at random from the 74 entries to receive an Eagle’s Nest Outfitter’s hammock. Thanks to all who entered!
