Mobile App

The Washington State Parks and Recreation launched its first mobile app yesterday on March 19, the 100th anniversary of the Parks and Recreation Commission. The app, called the Washington State Parks Pocket Ranger Mobile App, will be downloadable from the Apple store or Google Play Store, for either iPhones or Android devices.

The app will have info on more than 100 state parks, historic sites and campgrounds. It will use GPS technology to find you the closest park. You can access detailed maps and track and record your trails, and cache GPS maps in advance, in case your device is out of cell range. We also like the ability to access the calendar of events, and the potentially life-saving Alert feature. Go check it out now. It’s free!
