Get the family together and take to the streets for some healthy fun. Kaiser Permanente Northwest presents Portland Sunday Parkways events for the 7th year in a row. The events will be held in park-lined routes across the city, starting in East Portland on May 11 and concluding in Southwest Portland on Sept. 28.
Sunday Parkways is a series of free community events which opens the city’s largest public space — its streets — to people to walk, bike, roll and discover active transportation. Last year, 85,480 Portland area residents and visitors participated in the event series.
“After I moved here last summer from Chicago, Sunday Parkways quickly became one of my favorite Portland events,” City of Portland transportation director Leah Treat says. “Portlanders understand that the way we travel shapes our cities and ourselves. Every day can be Sunday Parkways for thousands of Portlanders when we provide safe routes for people to bike and walk.”
Sunday Parkways takes place one Sunday each month from May through September in a different area of the city from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Maps and route information can be found at www.portlandsundayparkways.com
