Boundary Bay Brewery and Bistro in Bellingham, Wash., has been named the 2014 Outstanding Philanthropic Small Business for Washington State by the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Boundary Bay was co-nominated for the award by several organizations in its community, and it was chosen as an outstanding example of how the business and nonprofit sectors can work together to address community needs, take better care of the environment and sustain one another.

Owner Ed Bennett and general manager Janet Lightner will be honored for their acts of generosity at the 26th Annual National Philanthropy Day Award Ceremony on Nov. 5 in Seattle, Wash.
