Pearl Izumi,
Woodburn, Ore.

Our Pickup Point of the Week is the Woodburn, Ore. Pearl Izumi store, home of great gear and a hard-core cycling staff. We talked with Keith, who is not only awesome at customer service, he’s a fun guy. Stop by and say hi, and don’t forget to pick up your copy of Northwest Cyclist.

Q: When did you start cycling?

I grew up riding my bike. All of my childhood friends lived close and we would spend all day on our bikes. I got serious about Mountain and Road Biking while in High School, nearly 20 years ago.

Q: What is your favorite ride?

I live in Silverton and I love riding up through Silver Falls State Park. There are some nice climbs, some thrilling down hills and everything in between. The State Park is beautiful and you pass by several tree farms and nurseries. The Petal Pedal in June is a great, organized way to incorporate the Park into a long ride…and there is free beer at the end.

Q: What’s the Pearl Izumi product you can’t live without?

The PRO Transfer Baselayer. These things are amazing. Super-fast dry time, no stinky B.O. smells and they are just darn comfortable.

Q: What is your favorite thing about Northwest Cyclist?

I like how diverse the articles are. The magazine has something for everyone, from road cycling to mountain biking, triathlon and even some nutrition and food articles. I also like looking through the pictures and playing the “find the Pearl Izumi product” game.
