Pink shirts, shoes, tents and flags. There will be plenty of pink on the streets of Seattle as women and men from around the Northwest take part in the Susan G. Koman 3-Day fundraiser walk Sept. 20-22.
Participants in the 60-mile trek raise a minimum of $2,300 prior to the event and walk an average of 20 miles per day for three days in a row. Money raised for the walk supports ongoing research and community outreach programs to help eradicate breast cancer.
Volunteers will provide pit-stop and medical support to walkers, help set up campsites at night and assist with opening and closing ceremonies. If you would like to help out, head over to www.the3day.org/volunteer.
The event will begin and end at the Seattle Center. The route goes through Mercer Island, Redmond, KIrkland and Ballard. Spectators are welcomed and encouraged to join in the fun. Public cheering stations will be set up throughout the course. A list of cheer stations can be found at www.the3day.org
